Mohammedan S.C will start CFL premier campaign tomorrow :-

But after years of disappointment, the scenario looks brighter for Shabbir Ali' team, who confirmed their I-League berth this time. The current team is certainly a promising one. Once again Mike Okoro will hold the backbone of Mohammedan Sporting.

If MSC has any hope of winning the Sahara Calcutta Premier League 2008 , then the dashing duo of MSC Mike Okoro and Theodre must click. In their days ,they can wreck any one's defense. The "Chupa Rustam" Jhoty Kumar also has a vital role to play to add flavor to the team. If Shabbir Ali's boys hold the defense and midfield intact , we can believe MSC will startle other big teams definitely.

The greatest disease of MSC is "Inconsistency". They are consistently inconsistent in recent past which is the biggest concern for millions of MSC fans. MSC is always unpredictable. Their brilliance is one match often fades into frivolity with a lackluster performance in the very next. Shabbir Ali must tackle this problem. We also get ever reliable Nasim Akhter ( Captain) under the goal post which gives huge confidence to the team.

Will Mike Okoro and Theodre deliver? Will they wipe out the drought of 27 long years ? Will they make smile millions of MSC fans? We hope that they can do it . They can quench the millions of MSC fans' thirst, which is long overdue.

25.05.2008:Its a party time for football lovers of Kolkata as the "Mecca of Indian Football" is all ready to witness the grand match between Mohun Bagan, India's oldest club and Bayern Munich, Germany's best club, and arguably one of the best succesful club in the arena of International Football.

Its a matter of pride for football lovers of Kolkata , as the legendary German goal- keeper Oliver Kahn decides to hang his boots after this very match. We will witness one of the finest goalkeepers "Swan Song",i.e, Oliver Kahn's last match on the turf of Yuva Bharati Kriyangan.

In short "King Kahn" is energetic, flamboyant, capricious, shrewd, swift handed G.K . He has almost all the good qualities of a genius G.K and he is arguably the best G.K after legendary Lev Yasin ( U.S.S.R) and and Dino Joff ( Italy).

So the match will be our life time experience to remember. It will be a great moment for Kahn also, when the 1,20,000 spectators from the stand will give him standing ovation! As for Mohun Bagan who has the opportunity to show their skills and try to restore India's pride on the field.

We will expect M.B players too will leave their mark on the visitors and make the match an enjoyable and memorable one.For us, its a win-win position, whoever wins ,we will return with a valuable remembrance which we all will cherish the rest of lives.So we have no other options left but to take the way to the Yuva Bharati Kriyanagan after the twilight descends on 27 th of May'2008.

Anil Ambani's Reliance group will sponsor Mohammedan Sporting to the tune of Rs.10 million ($226,085), though the well-known Kolkata football club already has a sponsor.

'The sponsorship deal is a big achievement for the club as it will help us to get better foreign players and also provide other players with better facilities,' club secretary Sultan Ahmed told IANS over phone from Kolkata.

The deal between the two parties was signed in Mumbai Tuesday.

Mohammedan Sporting already have SPS Group, makers of Elegant Steel, as sponsor and Reebok supplies the players' kit.

Ahmed, however, declined to give more details about the sponsorship deal.

'I can't divulge any other information now because I still don't have the contract papers with me,' he said, when asked for how long Reliance would sponsors the team.

The wheel of fortune seems to have turned full circle for one of the oldest football clubs of the country, especially after noted journalist M.J. Akbar took over as president in May last year.

Akbar had then said he would strive to get more and more sponsors for the club. The Reliance sponsorship is the first major step in that direction.

Mohammedan Sporting, founded in 1892, is one of the leading football clubs in Kolkata, along with East Bengal and Mohan Bagan.

But they have faced a dearth of quality players and lack of money, which combined to affect their performance in domestic tournaments.

In the elite division of the national league last year, the club was the top team till mid-way, but lost way and barely survived relegation
